I love lotion bars for warmer weather skin care. They’re light, absorb into your skin quickly, and require little to no packaging. I recently added these to my Etsy store but they’re so easy that you may just want to make a batch yourself! They would make a great Mother’s Day goodie too. πŸ™‚ You only need a handful of ingredients:

  • shea butter
  • almond oil (or coconut oil)
  • candelilla wax (for a vegan bar, or beeswax works too)
  • Essential oil for scent, if desired

Measure out three equal portions of your ingredients. I use a food scale for precision and check the capacity of the molds I’m using. Measure out 8Β ounces each, for example, of shea butter, almond oil, and the wax of your choice. Add these ingredients to a pot over low heat and stir until everything is melted and blended thoroughly. Remove from heat and add your essential oil if you’re using some – I’d start with 10-15 drops. Lavender and citrus scents are my personal favorites. Then just spoon into your molds and wait for them to solidify – or place the molds in the fridge or freezer to speed up the process.
