I love lotion bars for warmer weather skin care. They’re light, absorb into your skin quickly, and require little to no packaging. I recently added these to my Etsy store but they’re so easy that you may just want to make a batch yourself! They would make a great Mother’s Day goodie too. 🙂 You only need a handful of ingredients:
- shea butter
- almond oil (or coconut oil)
- candelilla wax (for a vegan bar, or beeswax works too)
- Essential oil for scent, if desired
Measure out three equal portions of your ingredients. I use a food scale for precision and to check the capacity of the molds I’m using. Measure out 8 ounces each, for example, of shea butter, almond oil, and the wax of your choice. Add these ingredients to a pot over low heat and stir until everything is melted and blended thoroughly. Remove from heat and add your essential oil if you’re using some – I’d start with 10-15 drops. Lavender and citrus scents are my personal favorites. Then just spoon into your molds and wait for them to solidify – or place the molds in the fridge or freezer to speed up the process.
