I’m excited to share a few photos from a recent session I shot for Misteka. Misteka is a local, Baltimore area food brand focused on healthy, vegan Egyptian inspired dishes. Not only is the food amazing, but founder Iman is active in bettering the community – most recently, by serving food to volunteers and those displaced by the flood waters that have once again ravaged Old Ellicott city. Iman also donates a meal for every three sold in an effort to combat hunger. If you’re in the area, sign up to be notified when Iman’s site is up and you can visit her in person to try out koshary, a staple dish of Egypt that is absolutely delicious!
For this shoot, I built a backdrop from weathered boards that you can buy in boxes of eight from Home Depot. They’re available in several different color options, so you can bring them home, lay them out, and nail a 1×4 strip of wood across the back of the boards at each end and a 1×2″ down the middle to create a stable faux floor to place your products on. Ideally, it would be great to hand paint every board and backdrop but if you’re short on time or space this is a very quick and affordable option at only $25 a box.
